EVERY DROP HAS A RIPPLE EFFECT
Where do we work?
Anywhere in the developing world.
Who do we work with?
Schools, teachers, the local community & government.
Where does the water come from?
We install a water tank for each school.
The water tank collects rain water which is then used for the basins.
What do the children get?
The girls and boys both receive compostable toilets, cubicles with doors and hand basins.
Who maintains the units?
Schools take responsibility to maintain the toilets.
Each school forms a toilet committee consisting of teachers, children and parents.
What else do we do?
We educate pupils & teachers about the importance of hygeine to keep them healthy. We also make sure that the committee is trained in maintaining the units.
How do we deal with the waste?
The end product is partly a liquid "compost tea" from composted urine rich in fertilizers with a faint smell of earth and free from pathogens and partly a compost substance containing minerals.
The aerobic fermentation and biological processes generate an organic safe-to-use fertilizer.
How are
the units maintained?
We supply each school with a one year supply of feeding bacterial culture, toilet paper and hand sanitizers.
